My recovery journey began in 2019 when I discovered the power of peer support and became a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter. Having lived with mental health challenges for much of my life, I was already working toward managing my mental health, but learning about peer support helped me truly understand the possibilities of recovery.
Through this journey, I discovered a deep passion for connecting people to resources and ensuring individuals have access to the support and services they need. I believe that when people are equipped with the right tools, guidance, and encouragement, they can navigate their mental health and recovery with confidence and hope.
Over the past several years, I have not only continued to grow in my own recovery but have also dedicated my work to helping others do the same. I am passionate about bridging gaps in services, reducing stigma, and walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and discover the freedom that recovery can bring.

I have struggled with addiction my entire life. In 2020 I decided to start my recovery journey by moving to Marietta from Texas where I entered a woman’s treatment center. Upon completion of the treatment program, I decided to stay in Marietta and start a new life. I lived in a sober living home until I was able to get on my feet. I worked on managing my sobriety while establishing a home. When I was ready to enter the workforce, I applied for a position at the House of Hope as their cook. I have now been working at the House of Hope since June of 2021. This was the first job I’ve had in over 20 years. I recently accepted the position of Community Health Worker for the House of Hope as well which will allow me to work closely with members to help them overcome barriers. Being employed here at the House of Hope has helped me not only maintain recovery but has inspired me to help others achieve the same freedom that I’ve gained over the years. I have been so inspired by the House of Hope staff, members, and mission, that I have decided to become an Ohio Certified Peer Supporter and Certified Community Health Worker. My hope is to continue to better myself.
Working at the House of Hope has allowed me to grow in my recovery!

I began working with the House of Hope in 2022. I am employed through a senior training program and have been blessed with the opportunity to serve my time working at the House of Hope. I am in long-term recovery from substance and have enjoyed providing support to the members of the House of Hope. I spend my days assisting staff with their duties while also interacting with members through conversation and by doing activities with them.
Working with the House of Hope is something I enjoy doing and it has helped me manage my recovery by being around, and working with, people who have also experienced their own recovery struggles and journeys.
